Lot Essay
Produced exclusively for the Audemars Piguet Paris Boutique, the present Royal Oak Chronograph is a highly desirable special edition distinguished by its sandblasted titanium case and bracelet, believed to have been the manufacture's first use of this finish on a Royal Oak in the early 2000s. Reinforcing its exclusivity, the caseback is embossed with a depiction of the Audemars Piguet manufacture in Le Brassus and engraved around the perimeter with the inscription 'Audemars Piguet La Boutique Special Edition'.
The striking two-tone dial combines black and anthracite 'Clous de Paris' guilloché, complemented by luminous Arabic numerals set against a black chapter ring. Black guilloché subsidiary dials for the running seconds, 30-minute counter, and 12-hour register create a harmonious and highly legible layout, while the date aperture is discreetly positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock. White luminous baton hands complete the composition, lending the watch a distinctly contemporary and technical aesthetic.
