The UR-100V Magic T takes its inspiration from the celebrated UR-100 series, retaining the slim case architecture and signature orbital satellite time display that have become defining elements of the model. Crafted entirely from titanium, the watch is distinguished by the remarkable finishing of its case and bracelet. The surfaces are shot-blasted, a process in which abrasive material is propelled with centrifugal or mechanical force to create a finely textured appearance. Particularly effective on titanium, this treatment interacts beautifully with ambient light, producing a constantly changing interplay of matte brilliance and subtle reflections. Ergonomics also play an important role in the construction of the UR-100V Magic T. The titanium winding crown is recessed within a hollow in the case rather than protruding from its side, protecting it while contributing to the watch’s streamlined profile.
Beyond conventional timekeeping, the UR-100V incorporates two unusual astronomical indications inspired by the Earth’s movement through space. Displayed along the raised flange on the upper half of the dial, the indication at left measures 555.55 kilometres, representing the distance travelled through the Earth’s rotation at the equator over a period of 20 minutes. Opposite, the 35'742-kilometre indication represents the distance travelled by the Earth along its orbit around the Sun during the same interval. Marked respectively ‘ROTAT’ and ‘REVOL’, these displays transform the passing of time into a fascinating representation of our planet’s continuous movement.
Visible through the caseback is the automatic calibre UR 12.02, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 48 hours of power reserve. Its drilled rotor is fitted with Urwerk’s distinctive profiled Windfänger airscrew, a propeller-like mechanism designed to regulate the winding system by moderating excessive rotor speeds, thereby minimising shocks and reducing wear on the movement.
