The Rolex Cellini Queen Midas is a watch born from myth and defined by sculpture. Designed by the legendary Gérald Genta, who also conceived the Royal Oak and the Nautilus, the Midas collection was introduced in 1964 as the heaviest gold watch money could buy. The Queen Midas followed as its smaller but equally imposing counterpart, retaining the same architectural ambition in a case designed for a woman's wrist.
The design is a direct homage to ancient Greece. The asymmetrical case and integrated bracelet mimic the columns and pediment of the Parthenon. In a poetic nod to the legend of King Midas.
This example, Ref. 4313 is crafted in 18k yellow gold. It measures 24mm across and features a pentagonal case signed "Queen Midas" on the band, paired with an integral gold Rolex bracelet and concealed folding clasp. The weight of the watch—over 100 grams—asserts its presence on the wrist in a way few vintage ladies' watches can match.
