Lot Essay
This ewer and basin were once part of the silver ordination service commissioned by Emmanuel-Louis de Cugnac from the Paris goldsmith Jean-Charles Roquillet-Desnoyers. The surviving ensemble includes a chalice and paten, basin, cruets, chrism vessel and candlestick, all decorated with wheat ears, water leaves, gadrooning and fluting, and engraved with the arms of Cugnac.
