A Victorian gilt-lined claret jug
of vase shape, on a foliate-decorated rising circular foot and with a vetruvian scroll shaped rim and fluted scroll handle with foliate terminals, the body chased with a broad frieze of classical figures on a textured ground with narrow bead friezes above and beneath, the front of the neck engraved with a crest, with matching silver-mounted cork with ball finial, the underside of the foot with commemorative military inscription dated 1879, Stephen Smith, London 1881 - 12in.
