A pair of Japanese six leaf table screens in sumi, gofun and colour on paper, one depicting three ladies at leisure on the balcony of a pavilion, one lady seated on the ground, the others taking in the view, three figures approaching below before tied bales of hay in a river landscape of pine and blossoming trees shrouded in gilt painted clouds; the other screen depicting a figure standing before a cart holding a lacquer box, further groups of figures standing in the foreground variously carrying swords, bows and quivers of arrows, two ladies seated in a boat in the distance in a river landscape with a torii amongst pine and maple shrouded in further gilt painted clouds -- each panel 10¾in. x 3¾in. (27.3cm x 9.5cm), 17th/18th century, (old wear, areas of gilt flaked and worn away).
