Lot Essay

Both these dolls were made for the Japanese home market, where ma-ba were producers for Mattel for a short period. The pink box was used as a market tester and sold in a store called P.B. Store Barbie Shop. In Japan it is not the custom to have pierced ears, hence the unblemished head of the early Barbie mould used for the Geisha prototype.
