signed on the horizontal plate Troughton & Simms LONDON, further engraved with the East India Company mark, inscribed RS No. 6, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, the two quadrants with silvered scales, level and cross-bubble (magnifiers missing), the horizontal plate with silvered scale, three verniers (magnifier missing), on three-screw tripod attachment, the telescope 13 5/8in. (34.6cm.) long; a military-pattern clinometer, in case; a brass cased marching compass; and a plane-table gun sight alidade with folding sights, in mahogany case -- 10in. (25.4cm.) long
