A fine late 19th Century salesman's brass model of a Tangye single cylinder horizontal stationary engine with cylinder ½in. bore x 5/8 in. stroke, inlet manifold and main stop valve, valve spindle tail shaft driven feed pump and compression dome, the curved cast frame with slipper type crosshead guide, 'bent wire' type crankshaft, governor belt pulley and twin spoked flywheels, the frame variously engraved 'Tangyes Patent Birmingham 1879' and 'The Soho Engine', finished in laquer and mounted on a shaped mahogany plinth -- 3¼ x 5¾in. (8.2 x 14.6cm.) Mahogany box inscribed in pencil 'Made by Harvey Perkins, Soho'
