A Japanese illustrated wood block album entitled 'The Tokaido Shank's Mare Album' containing fifty nine illustrated leaves each with their own notes translated into English. The album tells the tale of the journey of Yajirobe and Kitahachi from Yedo along the Tokaido Highway. The translation is dated Tokyo, October 1918. Cover leaf inscribed 'To H.C Cambell Esq, I wish you a Happy New Year and Merry Christmas, sincerely yours, H. Kitada', enclosed photograph of the owner with Baron Katada and others -- each leaf 8½in. x 13in. (21.5cm x 33cm).
