The interview tape in the following lot and those in lots 46, 61, 64, 116, 169, 222, 337, 380 and 396 were made by Dieter Bröer, a freelance journalist and editor of a German records magazine in the 1960s. Bröer mainly worked for two radio stations in Germany, Radio Bremen and Westdeutscher Rundfunk at Cologne. The former was the smallest and the latter the largest German radio station at that time. Dieter Bröer had four big programmes a month to do and therefore needed a lot of material. Bröer believes that he was the first presenter in Germany to regularly have artists talking on his programmes, he generally met the stars through his magazine, and made the interviews via that route. According to Bröer, in the 1960s, the world of artists, record company representatives and showbusiness-journalism was a friendly one and they felt like one big family.
