unsigned, with burnished-steel trigger, curved blades, in plush-lined simulated fish-skin-covered domed case -- 3 1/8in. (8cm.) wide; and a set of Southey's Tubes, with universal ivory handle, in plush-lined, fitted leather-covered case by Arnold & Sons -- 4in. (10.2cm.) wide

Lot Essay

Southeys' Tubes were used until the 1930's for draining fluid from the body in cases of dropsy, oedema etc. Dr. Southey was brother to the poet.
