Lot Essay

First edition of Bianconi's work, published posthumously with Fea's notes. This copy has the original title, which does not mention the contribution of Angiolo Uggeri. One of the letters bound in at the front (2pp., dated 26 June 1790) appears to be either from Carlo Fea or from Uggeri, and confirms the writer's agreement to the reprinting of the title page, with the revised text acknowledging the "tavole in rame rettificate e compite su la faccia del luogo dall'Architetto Angiolo Uggeri Milanese". The writer refers to "la controversia inscitata intorno alla stessa frontispicio" and thanks his correspondent for "un ragionevole accomodamento col credere a qualunque mia ragione."
