the case with flat-top hood, outset pilasters and glazed panels to the sides, with lenticle glass to the square-top trunk door decorated with birds and chinoiserie figures, similar scenes to the block plinth, the brass dial with engraved wheat-ear and signature to the arch John Gordon London flanked by cornucopia, cherub and foliate spandrels to the silvered chapter ring with matted centre with ringed winding holes, date aperture and seconds ring, the five pillar movement with inside countwheel strike and anchor escapement; seatboard replaced -- 87in. (221cm.) high
