A gold and enamel hunting cased verge pocket watch, circa 1810,
white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, eccentric winding hole, gilt fusee movement with pierced and chased balance cock, the case with milled band, each cover with a pearl set border and overlaid with dark green enamel decorated with a pattern of insects over an engine turned ground, diameter 32mm.

Provenance: Robert Graham 1784-1859, 5th Laird of Redgorton and 8th Laird of Balgowan. Bought for his sister Alexina Graham of Eskbank 1787-1868, who married Anthony Maxtone, 12th Laird of Cultoquhey.
Thence by descent to the present owner.

A hand written note with this watch by Mary Scott Maxtone and dated 1902, states that the watch had belonged to Josephine Bonaparte.
