Lot Essay

Founded by John Gray and Frederick Davison in 1838, Gray and Davison were noted organ manufacturers, of 9 New Road, Fitzroy Square, London, who exhibited at the Crystal Palace Great Exhibition in 1851. They were awarded a prize for improvements in organ making. They exhibited "a church organ of much magnitude...the external aspect [of which] was grand and beautiful..."
