A Shibayama style ivory tusk vase and cover
with monkey finial and silver mounts, inlaid in mother-of-pearl, stained ivory, bone, horn, wood and tortoiseshell with a long-tailed cockerel on prunus and peony branches above a lantern surrounded by insects and butterflies, the reverse with birds and egrets among reeds and lotus, set on a hexagonal wood stand carved and pierced with panels of peonies and chrysanthemums -- the tusk and cover 13¾.in (35cm) high and 25¾.in (65.5cm) high overall, signed on a wood tablet, (one small piece of inlay missing).
