Lot Essay

Four days after their marriage Sellers left for Hollywood to start the comedy film, Kiss Me, Stupid, with Gene Wilder, whilst Ekland remained in England to commence on Guns at Batasi. The transatlantic telephone lines were hot with calls and cables.
The humerous message is taken from a song performed in the weekly comedy radio show, The Goons, which starred Sellers with Spike Milligan, Harry Secombe and Micheal Bentine. Sellers often adopted the character of a villian who answered to the name of Grytpype Thyme or Bluebottle.
