Lot Essay

After 25 years in India, Nixon returned to England in 1953 and began writing and illustrating children's books. Animals were her favourite subject matter and she drew her inspiration from her own pets. Her Siamese kitten inspired Pushti, published by Warne, 1955 for which this is possibly an illustration.
