A late 17th/early 18th-Century Bloud-type ivory azimuth diptych dial,
unsigned, with silver calendar volvelle on the underside, the ellipse pierced and decorated with scrolls and an hour scale engraved VII-XII-V, the paper compass card printed with a table of latitudes, the finely balanced needle with brass cap, the inside of the lid with perpetual calendar scale and lunar volvelle, the case with folding brass latitude support, stowage for pin gnomon, and decorated with geometric motifs -- 3.1/4in. (8.3cm.) long
