A Shibayama style rectangular ivory cardcase and hinged cover, decorated in gold lacquer in hiramakie, takamakie and kirigane and inset in mother-of-pearl, coral, tortoiseshell and stained ivory with a peacock and peahen beside chrysanthemums in bloom and butterflies in flight, the reverse with two ducks on water beneath flowers, grasses, insects and further ducks in flight -- 4in. (10.2cm) high, (slight wear, minor hairline cracks).
