Lot Essay

The present tripod stand bears some similarities to an Antique brazier, which formed part of the collection of antiquities discovered at Pompeii and Herculaneum, and displayed at the Royal Museum at Naples. It was illustrated in R. Gargiulo, Raccolta de Monumenti pui Interessanti del Rl, Museo Borbonico, Naples 1825, fig.79.
