A patchwork quilt of diamonds of fresh printed cottons and chintz, including patches with chinoiserie scenes, seaweed patterns and geometric designs, within a large border of ivory chintz printed with scrolling foliage in dark brown outlined in rust, reversing to cream cotton, the central square field quilted with a flower head with a fan in each corner and a heart on the sides against a scalloped ground, the outer field with a feather design--216 x 252cm., circa 1840, with cottons dating from the early 19th century
