the case with chamfered flat-top hood, giltwood capped pilasters, the trunk door with ebony line inlay, bats' wings spandrels and centred by a conch shell patera, on stepped plinth, the 11in. (28cm.) square brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels and leafy engraving to the sides of the silvered chapter ring, signed Tho.Burford London, the matted centre with ringed winding holes and rosette engraved centre, subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, the six pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike, associated; dial and movement circa 1695, case late 18th century -- 84¾in.
