Lot Essay

Christie's South Kensington sold an English painted brise fan circa 1740 of this subject, lot 121 12 May 1994; and an 18th printed fan of this subject, lot 100, September 19, 1989. There are two printed versions in French in the Schreiber Collection, nos. 232 and 233, p. 103.
