A Saxon engraved goblet and cover
made for the Dutch market, the thistle bowl engraved to the front with a woman and infant within a walled garden, above the inscription 'IK.NIET.UER.MYNDT.DEESES.DE.LEEUEN.DAT.MYN.THUYN.SO.THANE.VRUGT.SAAL. GEEVEN.' above a broad band of scrolling stiff leaf foliage, the lower section of the bowl facet cut above a similar facet cut and knopped stem, on conical folded foot, the domed cover with faceted spire finial circa 1740 -- 42cm. high
