A late 19th-Century oxidised-brass transit theodolite,
signed on the silvered dial Troughton & Simms, London, and further engraved on the horizontal plate R. Bossi & Ca., 277 Florida, Buenos Aires, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, graduated bubble level, ray shade, the eyepiece with prismatic attachment and four cross-wire adjusters, the axis supporting the cross-bubble and 5-inch silvered vertical circle, with twin verniers and magnifiers, raised on twin A-frames, the silvered compass with edge-bar needle, jewelled cap and lock, the horizontal plate with level and cross-bubble, the silvered chamfered horizontal circle with twin verniers and magnifiers, tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, on three-screw tripod attachment, with accessories, in fitted mahogany case -- 14 5/8in. (37.1cm.) wide
