A rounded rectangular vase with short everted neck, painted and gilt with oval panels depicting a falconer, a peacock and peahen, ladies on a riverbank and figures crossing a bridge before a shrine in river landscape, all on a netting ground reserved with carp -- 4¼in. (10.8cm.) high, signed Nippon Gyokushu, white metal foliate rim; and a square tapering vase decorated with scenes of a kingfisher in flight above irises, ladies on a riverbank, a farmer walking through a mountain path and warriors in a snow pine strewn landscape -- 4¾in. (12cm.) high, signed Gyokushu, sealed Ko?zan.
