The gorge case with Sèvres style painted porcelain panels to the sides and top, the side panels depicting courting figures and the top panel nesting birds, within jewelled and gilt-heightened borders, the dial painted with birds and flowers and with conforming jewelled ornament (crack to top left corner), Roman chapter ring with blued moon hands, lever platform to the bimetallic balance, strike/repeat on bell to the backplate numbered 1591
