Lot Essay

The present clock gives the outward appearance of a high quality McCabe carriage clock; however, inside it has an extremely rare French minute repeating and quarter striking movement. The combination of English case and French minute repetition makes this clock considerably rarer than were it to have had, for example, a McCabe twin fusee movement inside. See also footnote to lot 73 regarding the use of English cases with English movements.
