Another, With Silver-Gilt Hilt
Circa 1820, Probably French
With sharply tapering blade of hollow triangular section with traces of etched decoration, the hilt with oval shell pierced with a design of spirally-radiating rays and olive branches and set with pastes (a few missing) on the inner side, the single rear quillon, arms, knuckle-guard and pommel cast and chased with olive branches and set with pastes arranged in strips and rosettes, in later leather scabbard with brass locket and chape
