The Test at Leeds, July 22-27 1948, resulted in a sensational tally of runs, England scoring 496 in their first innings with centuries from C. Washbrook (143) and W. J. Edrich (111), Australia responding with a century by R. N. Harvey (112) in a total score of 458, England declaring at 365 for 8 in their second innings, only to be beaten by 7 wickets when Australia made a fourth innings total of 404 for 3 with centuries by A. R. Morris (182) and Bradman (173 not out).
