A fan, the leaf painted with a classical scene with the departure of a hero, and smaller vignettes of a peddlar and a woman plucking chickens, the verso with a couple in a landscape, the ivory sticks carved, pierced, painted and gilt and cloute with mother of pearl shaped vignettes with a shepherd, monuments, fruit and shells, the handle carved to resemble rocaille when closed - 12in. (30cm.), English, circa 1750 (the decoration has been removed from the guardsticks) - in contemporaray box inscribed AFP and numbered No.15 (lacks one end)
