JEWELLERY FROM THE ESTATE OF THE LATE EVELYN LAYE C.B.E Born in 1900, the English actress made her first appearance on stage in 1915 and from 1923 to 1927 created many title roles in stage musicals. She made her first appearance in New York in 1929 as Sari Linden in Noel Coward's Bitter Sweet, which she also played in London a year later. Also seen in variety and pantomime, she toured extensively in a number of plays with her husband Frank Lawton following the second world war, continuing with successful performances in the 1950's and 1960's.

the pierced yellow twin leaf cover engraved with birds and flowers and set with six diamonds, opening to an engine-turned cover engraved "Dear Boo from George and Alfred "Wedding in Paris" 1954-6", the case with French marks.
