ONE OF THE MOST CELEBRATED EARLY WORKS ON NAVAL ARCHITECTURE. Joseph Furtenbach (1591-1667), a German engineer, spent 16 years in Italy devoting himself to mathematics, science and engineering. This work in three parts gives a detailed account of the construction of sailing ships and galleys, according to the Italian method. Each ship is pictured and its construction explained in detail.
