Lot Essay

As was usual during this period, many shipping companies used the opportunity afforded by naval reviews to promote their new vessels amongst potential travellers. Assuming this scene to be the Coronation Review at Spithead on 24 June 1911, the most likely ship that the Booth Line would have used for its guests would have been their brand new steamer Hildebrand completed that spring.
