Album of forty-five photographs comprising one cabinet portrait by Bassano inscribed on mount Billy Truman 13th Hussars, forty-four other albumen prints, the majority around 9¼ x 11¼ in., five signed Saché and seventeen signed Bourne and numbered in the negatives, thirteen (all Venice) approx. 10 x 12½ in., a few titled in ink on mounts, with miscellaneous printed ephemera and sketches at back of album, half green morocco, ruled and titled Photographs in gilt, g.e., 4to.

Lot Essay

Views at Nynee Tal and in the Himalayas by Saché; a native infantry group portrait; a group portrait at the Mess House, Lucknow; two other portrait groups of European gentlemen with their servants; two soldiers on horseback; the remainder studies by Bourne mostly in and around Agra, Lucknow, Cawnpore and Delhi (including the principal street with shopkeepers).
