Lot Essay

Born in Barcelona in 1928, Oriol Maspons became involved with photography in the 1950s when he moved to Paris for two years and began taking photographs of the city. In 1957, he returned to Barcelona and concentrated on a career in fashion publicity which he alternated with reportage. In 1958, the MOMA acquired three of his photographs and from 1959 he published and exhibited his work in France, Spain and New York.
