This plate was purchased through R. Hanks for £15 in the early 1960's.

Lot Essay

'Landovery Castle' was built at Swindon under Lot No. 234 in August 1926. She was fitted with a double chimney in July 1961 and withdrawn from Old Oak common Locomotive Depot in February 1963, having covered 1,855,495 miles in service. She was cut up at Cashmore's, Great Bridge in May 1964.
