OWNERSHIP INSCRIPTION OF JOHN CHEKE, TUTOR TO EDWARD VI to title and some annotations in (?) his hand (some cropped). Cheke (1514-1557), one of the prinicpal restorers of Greek learning in England, "was unquestionably one of the most learned men of his age. He was a felicitous translator and a judicious imitator of the ancient classical authors" (DNB); inscription on Cheke in English to pastedown; bookplate of Robert, Maquis of Crewe.
