Lot Essay

Born in Nagano Prefecture, Shimizu studied under Emile Antoine Bourdelle and exhibited at the Salon d'Automne. His sculpture was bought by the Government of France whilst he was living there in the early 1920s. He exhibited extensively in Japan, and won various prizes.
