Provenance
Galerie La Cour d'Ingres, Paris, where purchased by George Gregson in 1965
Born in Cuba, Cardenas studied at the Fine Art Academy "San Alejandro" in Havana between 1943 and 1949. He moved to Paris in 1955, and held his first one-man shows at the Galerie du Dragon and Galerie La Cour d'Ingres. He also exhibited extensively with other artists in America, Canada and Switzerland, winning many prizes along the way. White marble is probably the most popular material he uses.
