Two Italian silver oil- and vinegar-frames
Maker's mark of Pietro Borrani, Turin, circa 1815
Each on rectangular base with gadrooned border resting on four ball feet, the frames on caryatid supports with gadrooned borders, with central column and ring handles, the bases engraved with crowned monogram, one fitted with glass oil- and vinegar-bottles with applied frames for stoppers, the other with detachable plain tapering cylindrical pots, the domed covers hinged to the frames and with baluster finials, marked on bases, mounts, pots and caryatids

Lot Essay

The monogram is that of Charles-Emmanuel IV (1751-1819) who became King of Sardinia in 1796 and his wife, Marie-Clotilde de France (1759-1802), sister of King Louis XVI.
