The Roman goldsmith Luigi Mascelli (c. 1770-1825) became a master in 1804 and worked with his family at 90-91 piazza di Spagna from 1805 until his death. He was the father of the goldsmiths Giovacchino and Giovanni Andrea Mascelli. A gold box by the latter is illustrated in Charles Truman, The Gilbert Collection of Gold Boxes, Los Angeles, 1991, no. 147.
