Geneva, circa 1800, marks rubbed
Octagonal box, the cover, four side and base panels enamelled in translucent dark blue on an engine-turned gold ground within opaque white enamel borders, the cover centred with an octagonal reserve painted with a cockerel and a hen visiting a seated hen in a lakeside landscape, against an opalescent sky background, within a gold paillon husk border, the canted sides enamelled with blue rosettes on a polished gold rectangle within an opaque white enamel border, the inside of the lid fitted with a mirror, with slightly flaring thumbpiece
