The case with later moulded plinth, foliate cast handle to the cushion-moulded top, with later pierced brass frets to the top and in two panels to each side, the dial bearing the signature S. De Charmes London on the mock pendulum aperture to the matted centre, with calender aperture, the silvered chapter ring with pierced blued hands, winged cherub spandrels, strike/silent lever by chapter III, the five ringed pillar movement with twin fusees, re-built verge escapament, re-built pull quarter repeat on six bells with hour strike on further bell, the backplate engraved with scrolling foliage and central grotesk mask, with restorations and alterations
