Lot Essay

The colouring of this carpet is completely atypical for Kirman, the field colour being more usually associated with Tabriz. A carpet on the German market with very similar field and more normal turtle-palmette border was attributed to Tabriz (Rippon Boswell & Co., 16 November 1991, lot 70).
