Lot Essay

Louis Cottier invented this complicated fully adjustable world time system and production of a small series of this model began in 1953. The principle of the mechanism is that the 24 hour ring rotates anti-clockwise once in 24 hours so that the time indicated on the dial face, for example, 2.00 p.m. is indicated as 1400 hours at 12 o'clock on the 24 hour ring. The wearer adjusts the outer ring until his location is shown at 12 o'clock. The current time at all the other locations is then set correctly.
