A FAMILLE ROSE 'EROTIC SUBJECT' BOWL
late 18th century
The exterior enamelled with shaped panels enclosing figures at leisure in European-style land and seascapes, reserved on a gilt-scroll background and divided by two smaller panels with flower-sprays, the base enamelled with an amorous scene depicting a satyr seducing a nymph beside a cherub, the interior with a single flower-spray surrounded by a spear-head band at the rim, rim chip restored
10¼ in. (26 cm.) diam.
