Lot Essay

A similar example is illustrated in C.J.A. Jörg's Interaction in Ceramics, Oriental Porcelain and Delftware, (Hong Kong, 1984). He remarks that the source of the model was probably white Delft ware. Other Japanese copies of Delft figures are those of cows and the "Dutchman on a barrel".
